Ranged attacks where the defender can't get to them, like on a cliff - don't do that too often though, as it can be frustrating. As everyone else has said, creatures that target, say, will and reflex more than fort and ac. What's better, give npcs really high acs, fortitude, and hit points - and really low will and reflex. Or, a pair of serious brutes with really high ac, fort, and reflexes as before, so they can go toe to toe with the defenders, and more normal creatures that fight the rest of the group.
Charging at foes, only to hit that nasty trap between them, could be fun, and nasty, but again, not to be done too often. A creature with regeneration and a very high ability to hit through ac; it stays toe to toe with the defenders, and since marked beats up on them, but lasts a long time while still pounding on them in return, thus the strikers and ranged people are safer to do their thing while its eating up the defenders.
The idea is you make the encounters that seriously could threaten anyone via ac, and because marked, focuses, on the defenders, who are built for it anyway, so while it eats on them big time, the others can do their own thing. I believe SMP's plot device-y ability to punch through things would somehow allow him to pummel his way into a normal dimension. I think any of the more powerful Heralds would be able to do the job. Or the Authority could just use the Carrier to Door him into that dimension where momentum is converted into sound and leave him there to rot.
The dimension's unique properties, in addition to the fact that he has no convenient 'wall' to punch this time, would probably prevent him from using that particular wankerific power.
